Resume

Project Assistant - University of Nebraska 2001 - present

Project assistant is a really broad term to describe what I do at the University of Nebraska. My main job is to process and complete orders that come into our office, most of which are poster presentations and promotional materials for the entire college. The office I work in is an open office, meaning any customers or students can come in and work with us at anytime, even while we are doing production so I do a lot of multitasking and customer service. On the technical side of things I do a little bit of everything. I do most of the printing, working with both Mac and PC computers. I work with and do light maintenance with plotter, lamination, and copy machines as well as working with a wide variety of software programs (see side panel) to produce and create jobs within our department. What I love to do most is graphic design work but I also work with other programs to do PDF scanning, video editing and animation as well. Samples of my work can be viewed in the UNL work gallery above!

Freelance graphic designer Nov 2001 - present

I started freelance work in 2001. For the most part, I’m self taught although I’ve learned a lot of techniques through friends, colleagues and a lot of video tutorials. What started out as a hobby quickly grew into a side career! Most of my clients are local, however, I have done work for clients all over the country, from New York, California, Florida and Arizona. My designs include flyers, posters, business cards, menus, book covers, logos, desktop publishing, store front signage, and cutout props to name a few. I’m also in the process of teaching myself animation, video editing and title production to widen my skill set.

Allstate/ Lincoln Benefit Life Insurance Sept 1998 - Nov 2001

I worked at Lincoln Benefit Life in the late 90s. Lincoln Benefit was acquired by Allstate Insurance shortly after I began my employment there. My job in the imaging and work flow department was to sort through all corresponding documents from clients and agents and convert all physical materials into a digital format. After working at Allstate for a few of years I had the great opportunity to apply for a position at the University of Nebraska.

Education:

Art Institute Online - Pittsburgh April-2003 - Dec-2005

I had been freelancing for a few years and decided it would be in my best interest to take some specialized classes in graphic design and video game art and development so I enrolled to the Art Institute Online - Pittsburgh. I plan to finish my bachelor’s degree in the near future.

University of Nebraska – Lincoln 1996-1997

My original goal was to attend the Art Institute of Colorado to obtain a degree in graphic design and/or animation but the cost of attending was too high so I opted to attend the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (UNL); however, at that time UNL did not have a comprehensive graphic design program that interested me so I left to work full time.
